The iconic State of the Art Music Festival is back for another round Monday 5th June at Elizabeth Quay. Perth’s premium celebration of WA music has always included a quality mix of homegrown talent, but the upcoming 2017 lineup has taken the state by storm. Headlined by Drapht and Karnivool, this year’s State of the Art Music Festival is expected to be the biggest yet.
Proudly presented by Celebrate WA and WAM, the all-ages event showcases Western Australian artists across multiple stages. Last year’s State of the Art Music Festival had a new twist to it since relocating to Elizabeth Quay – it was all free! Much to music fan’s excitement, the sixth annual local instalment this June 2017 will also be free entry. After all, we want everyone to be able to enjoy WA’s collection of budding musicians.
With headliners that span across heavy rock, Aussie hip-hop, soul, electronica and more, many of this year’s artists are returning from tours to join us on home soil. Rock legends Karnivool, who are releasing their fourth album later this year, are joined by hip-hop party starters Drapht. Both acts will headline an all-star lineup of WA born and bred musicians including Gyroscope, Bob Evans, Katy Steele, Abbe May and Pow! Negro. Tired Lion, Crooked Colours, The Money War, Elli Schoen, Ziggy, Rag N’ Bone and The China Blue Experiment are also on the bill.
Hosted on WA Day, State of the Art Music Festival has plenty to enjoy beyond the live music too. Food stalls with international cuisine, street-food flavours, the Perth Makers Market, sophisticated bites, community art and licensed areas also make up the family-friendly festival.
