Attention music enthusiasts, Latin rock and blues fans and legendary guitar lovers! Get your ears ready to be seduced by the one and only Carlos Santana. The smoothest stringlord this side of Spanish Harlem has announced he’s hitting Aussie shores in 2017. Following the news he’d be returning to Bluesfest next year, Santana will take in five huge dates across the country with The Doobie Brothers as string of sideshows.
Kicking off at Perth Arena Friday 7th April, the multi Grammy Award winner and Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer will also be heading to Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. Santana’s Transmogrify Tour marks his first Aussie headlining dates since 2011. Now, the guitar virtuoso returns following the release of the wildly anticipated Santana IV record, featuring the original late-1960’s lineup reunited for the first time in 45 years.
Delivered with a level of passion and soul equal to the legendary sonic charge of his guitar, the sound of Carlos Santana is one of the word’s best-known musical signatures. For more than four decades – from Santana’s earliest days as a groundbreaking Afro-Latin-blues-rock fusion outfit in San Francisco – Carlos has been the visionary force behind artistry that transcends musical genres and generational, cultural and geographical boundaries.
From Woodstock to the Hollywood Bowl and everywhere in between, Santana is one of the most prolific and influential giuatarists of all time. Among many other honours, Rolling Stone has citedhim as #20 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
The might Doobie Brothers will join Santana as special guests adding to both artist’s mammoth bill for the 28th Annual Bluesfest in Byron Bay. A global enduring favourite of the 1970’s, The Doobie Brothers combine a touch of blues, and plenty of soul and rock ‘n roll to create their nostalgic Californian rock sound. Their celebrated back catalogue of music includes hits like Listen To The Music, Long Train Runnin, What A Fool Believes and so many more. Their legacy has been built not just on hit records, but also on an unrivalled commitment to musical integrity and steadfast allegiance to their enthusiastic fan base.
Santana will touch down in Australia straight off the back of a multi-year residency at the famous House of Blues in Las Vegas. He will be set to ignite stages across the country once again, with a style that fuses Latin rock, blues, soul and jazz, transcending time and the limits of genre typecasting.
