It’s almost time to dig out your best black suit jacket or sweater and slick back your hair! Respected Aussie musician Mick Harvey, former Bad Seeds member, is coming to town this month. Making an appearance as part of FAC’s Sonic Sessions, Harvey will sit down with Grammy award-winning musician Lucky Oceans for an intimate evening of music and conversation.
Sonic Sessions annual concert series is bringing this legendary icon to the Fremantle Arts Centre on Wednesday 23rd November. The easy going seated venue will provide the perfect setting to see Mick Harvey at his finest. Sit back and relax, soak up the atmosphere and indulge in the open bar, bliss.
The event will see Harvey tell some wonderful stories to his audience and offer a fascinating insight into his roles in music creation. Both Harvey and Oceans will join forces to open up about some of Harvey’s most famous songs and remarkable side projects.
The multi-instrumentalist is best known for his connection with Nick Cave, playing a pivotal role in Cave-fronted bands Boys Next Door, Birthday Party and Bad Seeds. Harvey is also a long-time producer and band member for PJ Harvey, and has composed music for a number of films throughout his career.
Tickets for Sonic Sessions with Mick Harvey are on sale now from $51 each here. But you better get in quick – this event is sure to sell out! For more information, check the official event page or follow FAC on Facebook.
Harvey will also perform Intoxicated Man – The Songs of Serge Gainsbourg at FAC the following night, Thursday 24th November. For the last 20 years, Harvey has been translating the iconic French singer-songwriter’s songs into English, with the fourth album Intoxicated Women due to be released this month.
Admired for his subversively witty and well-arranged records, Gainsbourg is considered one of the most important and influential figures of popular music in France and worldwide. In Harvey’s translations, the clever and often provocative nature of Gainsbourg is revealed to non-French speakers. Harvey will perform tracks from the latest album plus a few favourites from the previous three volumes with a full band, string selection and guest vocalists. Rarely performed live, it’s an exclusive opportunity to see a master musician’s interpretations of a legend’s work.
