News: The Darkness Add Aussie Headline Shows to Groovin The Moo Lineup

Australia! Hold onto your thongs! British rockers The Darkness have just announced they’ll be returning to Australia for a string of headline shows, in addition to their already secured Groovin The Moo lineup. The organisers behind the popular Groovin The Moo festival have realised that there is simply not enough rock on our otherwise wonderful island, and have given fans an extra dose of The Darkness love.

Besides leading the stellar festival line up at GTM, Select Touring and Blue Murder also gift you The Darkness headline shows in all of Australia’s favourite cities, showcasing the trademark mix of relentless rifferama, effortless haute couture, ridiculously loud noises and bright things that flash on and off.

The Darkness first rose to prominence back in 2003 with the release of their much lauded debut album, Permission to Land, which spawned the hit singles I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Growing on Me and Love is Only a Feeling. The British rockers gained recognition for their flamboyant and memorable live performances that recall the epic reaches of 70’s rock and roll and the big-haired excess of the 80’s. Now, one of the world’s most respected and beloved rock bands are thrilled to be returning back to Aussie shores this year.

Running for its majestic 13th year this April, GTM dropped their line up for 2017 last month, throwing back to some of our favourite international bands (plus some named primed to be introduced to Australians for the first time), not to mention a class cut of Australian talent in the mix. With the likes of Against Me!, Amy Shark, Montaigne, The Darkness, Milky Chance, Hayden James, The Smith Street Band, Snakehips, Violent Soho, The Wombats, George Maple and more to come, the festival promises to keep punters entertained with an eclectic music vibe to be getting amongst.

“We’re thrilled with our line up for 2017, it’s a mixture of established, nostalgic and breaking artists and we think there’s something there for everyone” – Steve Halpin / Cattleyard Promotions.

On top of the already awesome GTM shenanigans, The Darkness will head to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth for their headline shows. Tickets will go on sale Friday 10th February but if you want to get your hands on them early, sign up here for the exclusive fan pre sale tickets which go on sale Wednesday 8th February.

“Ask any fool – a Darkness show is a place where believers come together, where fluids are shared and dreams are built. But most importantly, where rock and roll is crowned king every night! Come one, come all” – Justin Hawkins.
