Perth certainly knows how to cook up a solid rock act and local rockers’ Vida Cain are just some of the proof you need. Although they’ve been a little quiet on the live front recently, a storm has been brewing at the Vida Cain HQ with the announcement of their upcoming album Yeah Nah; scheduled for release on October 14th.
Kicking around the Perth and regional WA scene since they threw a string of live shows and a debut EP in 2012, Vida Cain spent their first since months writing, demoing and gigging. And the work has certainly paid off. Two years later saw the band go national with their first record The Rule of Gravity.
The band’s debut EP was mixed at Debaser Studios by Andy Lawson (End of Fashion, Little Birdy, Eskimo Joe) and mastered at Studios 301 Byron Bay by Leon Zervos (Muse, Aerosmith, Maroon 5, Crowded House). Following the release, Vida Cain ventured on a national launch tour in 2014. But their quietness in between shouldn’t be mistaken for inactivity… the boys are now ready to unleash their latest offering. Featuring 11 hard-hitting, ear tickling, melodic treats, Yeah Nah will be launched at one of Perth’s hottest live music venues, Badlands Bar.
Early 2016 saw Vida Cain locking themselves up in Wastelands Studio with Eskimo Joe guitarist Joel Quartermain to bring the new album into fruition. Fear What You Don’t Say is the first taste the band have released off the upcoming record, a frighteningly catchy number that echos lyrical and production work from iconic Aussie rock powerhouses. It’s a promising preview of what’s yet to come. Preview the album here.
The local rockers will be joined by The Caballeros, Liam Naughton and Moon Puppy for the official launch at Badlands Bar (the old Devilles Pad), complete with $5 drink specials for hour hour if you get down early. The band will follow with future WA shows and an East Coast tour. Stay tuned!
