The British pop legend Sir. Elton John will be releasing his 33rd studio album Wonderful Crazy Night worldwide on February 5th, 2016. The infectious and upbeat lead single off the album Looking Up (released October 2015), has already captured Elton John fans and music enthusiasts worldwide, showcasing the spirit of creativity and talent that’s renowned to the legend himself.
Admitting the album took him less than three weeks to write, John spoke in a recent interview with U Discover Music about the making of Wonderful Crazy Night.
“The album is all one or two takes, and that’s it. We did a song a day – wrote a song, finished it, did the backing vocals and then went onto the next track. So in 17 days we did 14 songs, 10 of where ended up on the album”.
After listening to the current 4 tracks released off the album, John’s distinguished rhythms and skilful songwriting are certainly there. Already echoing some of his best-loved hits, the album is fuelled by John’s refreshing enthusiasm that goes with him every time he sets foot in the studio.
John brought back familiar faces for Wonderful Crazy Night too, enlisting the help of lyricist Bernie Taupin, after 48 years of collaboration together; producer T-Bone Burnett, who helped John with his 2013 studio album The Diving Board and his former band members Davey Johnstone and Nigel Olsson.
Wonderful Crazy Night also marks the continuation of John’s incredible, inexhaustible songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin. These outstanding and evocative new co-writers represent the latest fruits of their long-term friendship.
Other highlights from the album include A Good Heart, Tambourine and The Open Chord. A superbly live and spontaneous spirit permeates an album that’s about to become another landmark in an unrivalled catalogue.
