Summer is (almost) here!! Now we’re finally seeing the last of those rainy days, the warmer weather brings with it loads of live music action and good vibes…

Get ready for punk heroes L7 as they head over for their Australian tour, the next edition of Rumfest after a successful last year’s event and the Fremantle Festival which brings with it lots of local talent. There’s a few great EP launches to get too if you’re after some new tunes or check out Bernard Fanning on his solo tour, Alex Lloyd for his latest acoustica album and Tex Perkins in the creepy surroundings of Fremantle Prison. Fremantle Folk Festival is making an appearance this month too, with jazz Saturdays starting up at RiverBank Estate Winery and Nanga Festival showcase fun.

Jets | Let There Be Rock

Info: The Jets story begins in 1980 –  young man with the idea of a band playing good rock n and roll set out to shake up West Australia’s live music scene. That, they did. June 1980, Jets played their first Perth gig at the Civic Hotel on a Friday night. They had four punters show up plus half a dozen industry people that Focus had invited. They had no crew and lugged all the gear in and out as they did every night. Soon the band was working 5, sometimes 6 nights a week earning bugger all. Deany wanted the best sound production and lighting they could get. Most of the money earned went on production. The band played anywhere and everywhere and soon they could afford road crew. Distortland was first recorded in frontman, Courtney Taylor’s basement on an 80s cassette recorder with the band putting on the finishing touches in a studio. Courtney notes that the end result is an album that is “organised like a pop record but still has the sonic garbage still in there.” This will be Australia’s first chance to hear new material live and in living colour.
