June is turning out to be a big month in the Aussie live music scene. WAM’s showcase of WA born and bred artists, State of the Art Festival, kicks off first on Monday 5th June. And the following week sees two iconic Australian singer/songwriters heading over for an action-packed weekend at the Fly By Night Club. Tex Perkins, the man behind The Cruel Sea and Jeff Lang, Aussie blues slide guitarist, are both on tour. And they’re coming straight to Fremantle!

Want to win one of two doubles passes for either Tex Perkins or Jeff Lang? Head to the Toward Music Facebook page for details on how to enter:
Perkins has joined forces with Don Walker (Cold Chisel), Charlie Owen and Tim Rogers throughout his career. With five solo albums under his belt too, it’s no wonder he’s made quite the impression in the local music scene. These days, Perkins can be found touring the country for The Man in Black. The hit theatre production sees Perkins star as Johnny Cash.
Perkins’ Fremantle show is presented by Starr Special Events and the Fly By Night Club. The performance will be held at the Fly’s Victoria (Main) Hall in an intimate setting, allowing fans to be blown away by the full impact of his show. Tex Perkins will be playing a mix of old and new songs from The Cruel Sea Days and his solo work, along with Matt Walker.

If that wasn’t enough for the weekend, Jeff Lang also performs at the Fly By Night the following night. To celebrate the release of his latest album, Alone in Bad Company released in February, Aussie blues and roots artist is heading to Perth. Crowned the master of all things blues and folk, Lang’s newest offering is infectious, feeding off rapid fingerpicking and haunting vocals. The album encourages a healthy dose of slide guitar too.
Despite Lang’s career spanning over 25 years’, this release packages the most organic union of his talents and influences yet. Hit single, Burnside, has already impressed fans with its unmistakable guitar style and soul-dripping vocals. The album highlights Lang at the peak of his musical journey, as one of Australia’s most inspired musicians. Jeff Lang will be joined by special guests Lucky Oceans.
